What Is Bitumen Melting Equipment?
SDCAD bitumen melting equipment refers to equipment used to melt raw bitumen, such as drum packed bitumen and bagged bitumen used in road construction and asphalt plant projects. The raw bitumen used in asphalt mixing plants must be procured; the bitumen procured is generally transported in one of three forms: drum-packed bitumen, bagged bitumen, or bitumen heating tanks. For drum-packed bitumen, a drum heating container is required to heat and melt it to the specified stability before it can be used. For bagged bitumen, bagged bitumen melting equipment is required to heat and melt it to the specified stability before it can be used. These two types of equipment are collectively referred to as bitumen melting equipment.

The Advantages Of Our Bitumen Melting Equipment

We offer asphalt melting equipment for drum and big bag packaging, and develop tailored solutions to meet your needs.

We offer production capacity options ranging from 1–8 t/h, 2–12 t/h, and 12 t/h or higher to avoid overinvestment or schedule delays.

We offer heating methods such as thermal oil heating (our primary recommendation), direct burner heating, and electric heating.

Features such as automatic temperature control, discharge, and remote monitoring are available to improve production efficiency and ensure safety.
Fully Automatic Intelligent Control and Operating System
Traditional bitumen melting equipment relies entirely on manual operation; drum removal and installation, temperature control, and unloading are time-consuming and labor-intensive, resulting in high labor costs; Manual temperature control based on experience can easily lead to asphalt waste, makes it difficult to detect malfunctions in a timely manner, and often causes downtime and lost productivity due to operator errors. Our bitumen melting equipment with a PLC based intelligent control system, this machine features one-touch startup and automatically handles drum tilting and removal, constant temperature control, unloading, and fault alarms, helping you significantly reduce labor requirements, ensure stable operation, and lower costs while improving efficiency.

High Thermal Efficiency Bitumen Melting Equipment
Our bitumen melting equipment features a specialized triple layer energy saving insulation design, including a thick, multi layered insulation structure, a high efficiency heat exchanger, and a closed loop flue gas recirculation system, ensuring full recovery and maximum utilization of waste heat. It recirculates heat transfer oil to minimize heat loss and significantly reduce fuel consumption. Compared to traditional open-flame heating, our solution significantly reduces heat loss and fuel consumption while improving overall energy efficiency. This enables long-term, sustained reductions in fuel costs, helping you effectively lower the daily operating costs of your equipment.

What Our Client Say
Typically, 1 to 2 operators are sufficient to complete the entire production process.
Compared to traditional manual bag cutting and heating methods, this significantly reduces labor requirements and improves work efficiency.
The jumbo bag bitumen melter can be used to melt a variety of solid asphalts, including:
Road petroleum asphalt, modified asphalt (SBS, etc.), high viscosity asphalt, industrial asphalt, and waterproofing asphalt (subject to confirmation based on product characteristics)
If the asphalt has a high softening point or a special formulation, it is recommended to inform the manufacturer in advance so that an appropriate heating solution can be selected.
Usually, drum bitumen and bag bitumen require different feeding and melting structures. Some systems can be customized, but buyers should confirm the packaging type before ordering.
In most road construction projects, a storage tank is recommended. It stores liquid bitumen at a stable temperature and helps ensure continuous supply to the asphalt mixing plant or production system.
Yes. SDCAD can provide customized bitumen melting equipment according to capacity, heating method, packaging type, power supply, fuel type, site layout, and project requirements.
Contact SDCAD Road Construction Equipment to discuss your project capacity, bitumen packaging type, heating requirements, and site conditions. Our team can help you choose a suitable bitumen melting machine, bitumen storage tank, and thermal oil heating system for stable asphalt production.

bitumen melting equipment vs Traditional heating method
Problems with Traditional Heating Methods
| Issues | Impact |
| Low heating efficiency | The long asphalt melting time results in extended construction wait times. |
| High energy consumption | High fuel consumption indirectly increases raw material costs significantly. |
